Handcrafted in Copenhagen during the summer of 2024, this one-of-a-kind wrapped lounge chair is a sculptural study in Scandinavian design philosophy: where simplicity, comfort, and craftsmanship meet. While studying design across Denmark and Sweden for seven weeks, I immersed myself in the region that shaped modern furniture, visiting renowned studios from major cities to rural workshops and even touring the IKEA headquarters, gaining firsthand insight into the principles that define Nordic design. This chair became the culmination of that experience: my most architectural and technically ambitious build to date. Designed and constructed entirely by me, the piece features a carefully wrapped structure that creates both visual softness and structural strength, resulting in a chair that feels at once cozy, sculptural, and remarkably versatile. Its form invites the body to settle naturally while its clean lines and tactile materials echo the warmth and restraint that characterize Scandinavian interiors. Transported from Copenhagen to the United States, this chair carries with it the story of its place of origin and the craftsmanship behind it: making it not just furniture, but a functional design object and collector’s piece.

Navigating the discourse between designers, manufacturers, and clients that I one day will have to work with & approximating the shell before shaping it and building out the real dimensions.

Learning about wood lamination & visualizing how I could apply curvilinear design to a rectilinear chair structure!

This was one of the most difficult pieces to build out that I have ever designed - it was completely architectural and I learned an incredible amount from the experience and from working with Scandinavian furniture designers and woodworkers to create it and reinforce the structure with the utmost precision.
